The challenges in Packaging Supplies

Packaging is a growing area, and with so many brands turning to online ecommerce, rather than brick and mortar, it’s definitely become a pretty saturated market.

With the growth of ecommerce though, it’s created a big impact on the demand off packaging. There are new challenges that come with this, and different things that companies need to focus on.

One of them is packaging supplies. Securing them can be a problem, and getting what you need is a challenge.

Here, we’ll go over the challenges of these supplies, and various solutions that are great to pose for success.

The Challenges

There are different challenges that come with this.

The first is ensuring that the product is protected during transit. There’s only so much you can do, and if the product’s protection isn’t figured out, it causes some major problems.

The second thing is the return side of things. you first of all want to minimize returns, so you want the correct packaging. But if in the event you do need to return something, you’ll want to make sure that it’s easy, so customers don’t feel like they’re going to tear their hair out grabbing what they need.

All of this culminates in balancing the costs and the quality as well. sure, you can lower the costs, but if the quality suffers, it’s absolutely not worth it.

The solutions

Obviously, it’s different in every situation, but there are certain practices as well that you will want to look at.

The first is the material selection. Choose the lightest material that you can that’s also durable too. That way, you’re not wasting as much on costs, but are also able to ensure that the product is aptly protected.

The second thing is using the standardized packaging process. Make sure that the items fit to the dimensions of the container, and from there, only use void fill that’s approved by the company. Try to not use too much, and also make sure that the item is inside in a manner where they’re not sliding about.

If there is an event of returns, you should make it easy for customers. A return label that’s easy to print, or even just returning it in the box that you have is a good one. Some  companies even use various mailers that are resealable, so if there is a problem, it doesn’t cost you a lot.

Finally, automaton technology.   Some companies are using automation for the packaging, so that it’s accurate to the dimensions needed. The use of technology and smart packaging as well helps with ensuring that you’re not sacrificing the quality, and that everything gets to the customers how it should be.

The environmental Considerations

Another part of this is the environmental considerations. More companies are becoming aware of this, and the choices of supplies might play a  part in the types of businesses they contribute to.

With that being said, try to reduce the waste in your ecommerce packaging. If there’s excess void fill, get rid of it.   your packaging will thank you.

You should also adopt more sustainable practices and materials. For example, various sustainable types of packaging such as bioplastics and the like, might be great.   You can also use reusable technology to help get rid of the strain on the environment.

Overall, try to incorporate these into your packaging, because they will play a part, not just in the sales, but the customer and branding loyalty.

Getting your packaging off the ground is a challenge and here we went over a few challenges and solutions possible.
